On passport

According to the Article 3 of the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “About Passports”, Passport is the only document that confirms the identity of the citizen out of the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as, realizes the right of the citizen to exit from the country and entry into the country. International passport is the property of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  The responsibility is established by legislation on deliberately deterioration of passport, as well as, loss of this document due to negligence.

According to the charter 687 of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated on 17 July, 2012, DESCRIPTION and SPECIFICATION  of the international passport has been confirmed.

1. The description of international, service and diplomatic passports has been considered in No. 9303 document of the International Civil Aviation Organization and meet the international requirements and standards which are applied to the machine-readable travel documents.

2. A passport is in the size of 88 mm x 125 mm. It is composed of a cover of 4 pages and 50 inside pages.

3. On the first page of the cover of the Passport, “AZƏRBAYCAN RESPUBLİKASI / REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN” is given with the golden color on the top, “PASPORT/ PASSPORT” is written at the bottom, the graphics of the state emblem of the Republic of Azerbaijan is described in the middle. Special mark proving the existence of electronic chip in passport is provided at the bottom of the same page.

4. The colored description of state emblem, flag and map of the Republic of Azerbaijan are given on the second and third page respectively.

5. Depending on the type of the Passport, the following text is written on the third page of the cover:

    5.1. In the international passport: This passport is the property of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The passport contains 50 pages.

6. The corners of the Passport is rounded to the extent of the 3,18 mm radius

7. The paper used for the cover and inside pages of the Passport does not reflect the ultraviolet radiation.

8. The cover of the Passport is made of high-quality acrylic material.

9. Paper used on the second and third pages of the cover of the Passport consists of 50 percent  cotton and 50 percent cellulose and it is 120 grams per its square meter.  The cover of the Passport is heat-resistant, wear-proof, untearable, highly resistant to chemicals, moisture-proof and environmentally safe. The visible fibers in the ultraviolet spectrum, guilloche, micro text, rainbow printing method, relief printing, deep printing method, infrared and ultraviolet printing are used on the second and third pages of the cover of the Passport.

10. The first and second inside pages of the Passport (information pages) is made of 100%  high-quality polycarbonate material. Polycarbonate material is transparent and heat-resistant, light-proof, deformation-resistant, highly resistant to chemicals,  moisture-proof and does not discharge toxic substances. It also reflects high quality photo of passport holder and is able to prevent the falsification.

11. The elements that ensure the protection of the face image of the passport holder, optically variable colored paint, kinegram, guilloche, micro text, relief printing, rainbow printing method, laser engraving technology, optical variable elements and UV printing are used on the second inside page of the Passport.

12. The row number of the inside paper pages of the passport is reflected in different ways

13. The row number of the Passport begins from the third inside page and is reflected in the cone puncture method in the upper - middle part of all inside pages and third and fourth pages of the cover.

14. The electronic chip containing at least 80 kilobytes of memory, is placed on the information pages of the Passport. In this electronic chip, the data given in the clause 1 of the first part of the   Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “About Passport” (except for the signature of the passport holder), the facial features of the Passport holder  and fingerprint are placed.

15. Data retention period in the electronic chip is at least 10 years. Electronic Signature Technology and Cryptographic Algorithm are used to provide the security of data stored in electronic chip.
